Why this site exists
Most parents are not gamers, and most gaming information is written for players. When a child asks for a new game, parents tend to find two kinds of answer: marketing written to sell the game, or alarming headlines written to get clicks. Neither helps you decide.
We built Pressstartparent to sit in between: what a game actually involves, how money and chat work inside it, and which settings change what. Then the decision is yours. Every family draws its lines differently, and that's fine.
What you'll find here
- Game guides with a Parent Check for chat, spending, intensity, "one more go" pull and player-made content.
- Set-up guides for consoles, phones and game accounts, with real menu names.
- Five worlds that explain the big themes: money, chat, time and ratings.
- Age guides for under-7s through to 15-year-olds.
Who runs it
Pressstartparent is published by Lanternfield Media Ltd, London, United Kingdom. We are an independent publisher. We are not part of, or paid by, any game company, console maker or app store.
How the site is funded
The site is free to read. There is no advertising on it, no affiliate links and no sponsored content. If that ever changes, we will say so clearly on this page and on any page affected.
How we check facts
Our approach to sources, dates, corrections and the Parent Check dials is set out in full on How we work.
